REU 2006

Summer 2006 REU Program Summary

CHN hosted 26 REU participants in NEU, UML, and UNH laboratories in summer 2006. Undergraduate students performed CHN research in close association other graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, faculty advisor(s), and in some cases K12 teachers. They participated in internal and external technical meetings, and will also be asked to present their research experiences to other undergraduates and CHN researchers at a joint research presentation.

In addition, REU students participated in a three-university professional development program that included development of communications skills, an engineering ethics workshop developed for all CHN researchers, CHN events like the NSF site visit at UNH and 5th New England Nanomanufacturing Conference, and social events. For example, NEU and UML REU participants took the locks and canal tour at the Lowell National Historical Park where Megan drove the trolley - while UNH students checked out New Hampshire's beaches.

Students also assisted with CHN-sponsored K12 outreach activities.
