F.A.Q.s
Who can apply?
You must have completed your freshman through senior years in an undergraduate institution or community college. You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident in order to participate in the program.
If you do not have U.S citizenship or a green card visa status, no federal funding from the National Science foundation can be used to fund your stipend and housing. Opportunities for non-U.S. citizens are available in some instances.
What are the participation benefits?
In addition to the educational opportunities offered by participation, all students will receive a stipend for the 10-week period of $4500. Separate from these earnings, all students will be provided with furnished air-conditioned apartment-style housing.
Which campus should I apply to?
All three campuses have equal numbers of student participants, and each campus has a specific research focus. Please indicate your preference to project and location on your application, and we will try to accommodate your interests.
Will you pay for travel to campus?
Unfortunately, funds are not available to travel to and from our locations.
Can I bring a car?
Depending on the institution, parking may be readily available, but in some cases required an additional fee. What if I don’t know anything about nanotechnology? No problem! Here are some links that will provide you with some background to peak your interests…
What if I already have a family vacation or event planned for this summer?
One or two day vacations can be accommodated on a case by case basis. Please indicate any conflicts on your application. Monday July 5th will be a paid vacation day.
