Community Engagement

Deeply embedded in our community

We work alongside Charlotte’s organizations and people to highlight and amplify what makes the region so special.

SERIES

“Local Leaders, Global Impact” thought leadership series

For more than a decade, Charlotte community leaders have joined us on campus to share their insights on topics ranging from social justice to economic mobility to barriers in healthcare. Our guests, including government officials, company executives, and healthcare experts, inspire thoughtful debate, discussion, and action.

GRANTS

The Heart of Charlotte Awards

We offer these grants annually to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to improving the Charlotte metro area. Honorees are recognized for strengthening neighborhood connections, investing in educational achievement, nurturing business development, creating jobs, and advancing social, racial, and health equity.

STUDENT GROUP

Student Nurses Association

This student-led group takes to heart its mission “to reach out to communities in need and advocate for healthier resources.” It regularly organizes initiatives such as food drives and free health checks to serve Charlotte residents, embodying the service ethos of our nursing degree program.
