“The students that come from Northeastern are very important to our organization. I’ve seen how these students function as nursing assistants. I’ve seen their enthusiasm, their joy of learning, their dedication to patient care, and it’s really extraordinary” says, Lois Silverman, Chair of the Board, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Beth Israel is an accredited level 1 trauma center in Boston, which handles approximately 40,000 patients a year. They hire Northeastern co-ops because the students demonstrate professionalism and are committed to learning and asking questions; hence they have more opportunities to work at Beth Israel after graduation because of the experience they gain during the rotations of their co-ops. Beth Israel has been a partner with Northeastern for approximately 5 years.
