The primary objective of the employer relations function within Central Cooperative Education Services is to develop and enhance relationships with the employer community, which will lead to the creation of co-op job opportunities for our students. This objective is met in a variety of ways:
Job Development
Working either independently or in collaboration with college co-op coordinators, alumni relations and admissions staff, the Employer Relations team actively connects with the employer community on a regular basis to promote the value of the Northeastern co-op program. These efforts include:
- engaging current and non-co-op employers in a strategic fashion
- compiling critical employer data and contact information
- attending industry-wide networking events to help generate new leads
- targeting new growth sectors for potential job development
- leveraging existing business relationships
- recognizing co-op employers at campus-wide events
- utilizing membership in various business trade associations
- collaborating with Northeastern leaders & departments
- responding to unsolicited calls and email requests from employers seeking co-op information
Specialized Services
The Employer Relations Team provides a variety of customized and/or additional services, including:
- counseling parents, students, & faculty on the co-op process
- responding to media inquiries regarding co-op or related issues
- providing co-op faculty various professional development services
- Promoting co-op through various campus-wide events
- participating in university orientation events on behalf of the co-op program
