Cinema Studies

The certificate in cinema studies requires four graduate courses distributed as follows:

One required course:

• ENGL7331 Film Studies

Three elective courses from among:

• ENGL7274 Topics in Shakespeare
• ENGG334 Contemporary Film
• ENGL7333 American Film
• ENGL7332 Topics in Film
• ENGL7359 Topics in Comparative Literature: Film and Literature
• HIST5239 Media and History
• HIST7219 Topics in Cultural History
• JRNL5309 Documentary Production

Other graduate courses may be substituted for the electives if they meet the requirements of graduate-level film courses; these courses are subject to the approval of the director of the cinema studies program. In addition to required coursework, students must also participate in the colloquia series.
