Graduate School Awards
At Northeastern, there are many ways to finance a quality graduate education.
Assistantships, scholarships and fellowships are awarded to full-time degree candidates on the recommendation of the departments.
The following options are available. For more information, consult your individual department.
Graduate School Scholarship
GSSs provide a tuition waiver (a scholarship) of a predetermined dollar amount. There is no work requirement. Available through most departments.
Teaching Assistantships
These awards provide a stipend, a tuition waiver to fulfill departmental degree requirements as well as the health plan in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. Available in most departments.
Grant-Supported Research Assistantships
These awards are available in some departments. These awards provide a stipend, a tuition waiver to fulfill departmental degree requirements as well as the health plan in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. Available in most departments.
Diversity Fellowships
These awards provide grants and/or tuition remission to students of color.
Martin Luther King Jr. Tuition Fellowships
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Graduate Fellowship Program provides up to nine campus-wide graduate student scholarships each year, covering full tuition and general fees for the student's graduate program. The Program is administered by the John D. O'Bryant African-American Institute.
