At Northeastern, there are many ways to finance a quality
graduate education.
Assistantships, scholarships and fellowships are
awarded to full-time degree candidates through the Graduate School
of Arts and Sciences
at the recommendation of its departments.
The following options
are available. For more information, consult your individual department
or call (617) 373-3982.
Graduate Student Scholarship
GSSs provide a tuition waiver (a scholarship)
of a predetermined dollar amount. There is no work requirement. Available through most
departments.
Teaching assistantships
These
awards provide a stipend as well a tuition waiver to
fulfill departmental degree requirements in exchange for
20 hours
of work per week. Available in most departments.
Grant-supported research assistantships
These awards are available in some departments.
Graduate Assistantships in Areas of National Need
The departments of Biology, Chemistry, Math and
Physics invite applications for a limited
number of GAANN
doctoral fellowships for full-time study.
The stipend varies slightly by department,
but is approximately $19,000 for the academic year
and additionally covers full tuition.
These awards are for incoming graduate students
who plan teaching or research careers in the broad area of scientific
computation.
The doctoral fellowships are granted by the U.S. Department
of Education and recruit talented U.S. citizens and
permanent residents with strong academic records. Students
from groups
traditionally underrepresented in scientific computation
(minorities and women)
are particularly encouraged to apply.
For more information contact a GAANN award director,
Robert Markiewicz.
University-wide fellowships
These awards provide grants and/or tuition remission
to students of color.
Martin
Luther King Jr. tuition fellowships
This fellowship is awarded through
Northeastern's John. D. O'Bryant African-American
Institute to promising degree candidates.
