The College of Arts and Sciences has several programs, some open to any Northeastern student, others designed for specific majors.
Dialogue of Civilizations takes Northeastern students around the world to experience different cultures first hand through meetings and discussions. Offered through CAS's Department of International Affairs, Dialogue of Civilizations is an intensive series of two-to five-week summer for-credit programs in more than 20 different countries. Participants meet with government leaders, local groups, and students for one-on-one discovery. Participants may:
-
learn a new language by immersion
-
take part in a service learning project
-
conduct research
-
study a specific area of interest.
Art and Design majors may spend a semester studying in Italy at Studio Art Centers International. Students draw inspiration from the Italian culture and receive academic credit. The Art and Design department also offers summer trips to Ireland, where students work in their own studios, and Italy, to study digital photography and art history.
In the International Human Services Program, Northeastern students discover the culture of Mexico. Participants learn or improve their Spanish; study politics, economics, and social issues; and volunteer at a Mexican organization of their choice.
CAS majors can study abroad in several additional programs in:
-
Australia
-
Canada
-
New Zealand
-
Northern Ireland
-
Scotland
-
