Anthony De Ritis in Geneva, Switzerland
Professor Anthony De Ritis, Chair of the Department of Music, produced a concert for the "Music as a Catalyst for Environmental Awareness" Conference in Geneva, Switzerland this October. The conference, presented by the Melody for Dialogue Among Civilizations Association, CERN and UNESCO, explored "the interrelationship between music, environment and sustainable development.

Joshua Jacobson in Antwerp, Belgium
Professor Joshua Jacobson has been invited to give the keynote address at a Jewish Music conference in Antwerp, Belgium. His lecture, JEWISH MUSIC: WHAT IS THAT?, is described as follows:
"The definition of 'Jewish Music' is to a great extent dependent on the nature of Jewish identification. Is 'Jewish' a religion? A culture? A race? A nation? Prof. Jacobson will investigate what 'Jewish Music' has meant to composers and critics, Jew and non-Jew, friend and foe. |
