Networking & Informational Interviewing

Networking is the most important part of your job search. More than 80% of all jobs are found through networking, so it is critical that you develop and use this skill.  It is one you will use throughout your life.

Open your conversations with a question that ANYONE can say “YES!” to: Would you share your experience? Would you be willing to give me some advice?  For more ideas about how to network, go to our Networking Etiquette and Informational Interviewing guides.

An informational interview is a meeting with a professional in your areas/companies of interest, in which you ask them questions regarding their occupation and industry. It is an excellent way to research jobs and get personal insight from an industry expert.
