12:00 - 1:00 pm: International Small Group Job Search

This small group workshop is the first step for international students in starting your job search. In this strategy session we’ll include, but go beyond traditional job search methods, to also focus on online and in-person networking and using social media sites such as LinkedIn. Advance Registration is required only for this workshop. All workshops below are open with no registration or RSVP necessary.

1:30 - 2:00 pm: Strengthen Your Resume/Strengthen Your English:  Unique Ways to Build Experience!

Raytheon Amphitheater, 240 Egan Center

Do you want to be as competitive as possible for the job search? Hear about unique ways to put great experience on your resume and strengthen your English language skills in the process! This workshop is specifically for international students in all types of degree programs who will be interviewing for U.S. positions.

2:00 - 3:30 pm: Dream to Reality: Launching Your Global Startup!

Raytheon Amphitheater, 240 Egan Center

Ever thought about starting a company with a global team? Stop thinking. It's time to do it. This workshop is not just going to teach you the basics of starting a company; it's actually going to make you create one. Join us for an action-packed afternoon of innovation, diversity and global minds. Hear from serial entrepreneur Mike Miller, a globe-trotting entrepreneur and the President of Culture Adapt. He has worked and lived as an expat in Suzhou, China, founded two start-ups, studied abroad in Hong Kong, and traveled to over 30 countries. This is event is one-time-only! Don't miss it!

3:45 - 5:15 pm: H-1B Basics

Raytheon Amphitheater, 240 Egan Center

Learn about H-1B employment visas and the current status of employment visas from Immigration Attorney, Monique Kornfield. Learn about the process and cost for an H-1B and other visa categories as well. Become more comfortable talking with prospective employers about how to go from your student status to an H-1B visa. This workshop is not offered again until November 2013.

5:30 - 8:00 pm: International Student Alumni Success Panel and Networking Reception

Raytheon Amphitheater, 240 Egan Center

Hear from NU international student alumni about what led to their success in finding jobs after graduation. Get tips and advice from former international students on how you too can be successful in landing a job in the US. Talk with former international students who obtained positions. This workshop is not offered again until November 2013.
