Career Week is coming soon! Join Career Development February 8-15 for workshops and events to get you ready to jumpstart your career and internship search.  Registration is now open on NUcareers.

Here are the list of workshops and events being held during Career Week:

Finding an Internship for Undergraduates, Feb. 8, 4:00-5:00, G12 Stearns Center
Internships are a great way to enhance your resume, to build your network and to learn about careers, companies and industries. Bring your laptop to this informational workshop where Career Services will show you how to find or even create your own internship! Participants will be able to use their own laptops to begin the internship search process after learning how to: research the industry and potential employers, utilize Husky Career Link and other internship-related search engines, and understand the basic concepts of networking as part of an internship search.

 

Interviewing 101, Feb. 9, 12:00-1:00, G12 Stearns Center
Undergraduates, learn how to prepare for your interviews by researching the company and strategies for responding to questions.  Gain confidence before your first
interview with practice on how to respond to common interview questions.

 

Internship/Co-op Day in the Life Student Panel, Feb. 9, 6:00-7:30, Stetson East 20
Are you a first or second year student curious what Co-op is ACTUALLY like? Join us for a panel discussion with undergraduate students who have co-op’ed in finance, product development & design and more as we discuss differences in Co-ops across industry, company size and job functions. You will also learn tips on navigating the shift to life as a Co-op; best practices for interacting with co-workers and supervisors; organizing your time on the job to achieve success, and what the panelists wish they’d known before arriving on the job their first day.

 

Practice Your Pitch for the Undergraduate Internship Fair, Feb. 13, 5:30-7:00, 202 Stearns Center
Get ready  for the Internship Fair by practicing your pitch to employers.  Learn tips and tricks for successful networking from a panel of our employer partners and hear about strategies for a good pitch.  Afterwards, you will have time to practice your pitch with employers and get feedback on ways to improve.

 

Writing Your Professional Resume, Feb. 14, 4:00-5:00, G12 Stearns Center
Are you thinking about doing an internship and need help writing your first professional resume? This interactive workshop will provide tips on how to create a resume that will get you the job! Participants will draft job descriptions for their actual resumes.

 

Undergraduate Internship Fair, Feb. 15, 10:00-1:00, Curry Ballroom - Register today! 
Career Week concludes with the Spring Undergraduate Internship Fair on February 15th, 10:00-1:00 in the Curry Ballroom.  Are you looking for an internship to help gain experiences and skills this spring or summer?   This event is specifically for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year undergraduate students who are seeking internship opportunities.  An internship is a great way to explore career fields, as well as gain experience to maintain a competitive advantage for future opportunities.

 

What happens at the Undergraduate Internship Fair?

The Fair:  Feb. 15, 10:00-1:00, Curry Ballroom

1st, 2nd, 3rd Year Undergraduate Students should come with resumes, dressed in interview attire, and prepared to network and apply for internship positions with hiring employers. Attendance at the fair is required for the chance to receive an invite to a same-day interview during the On Campus Recruiting portion of the day. Register here for the event.

After participating in the Internship Fair, students may be invited to participate in half-hour interviews with participating employers for open positions.  Employers will communicate their schedules and extend invitations to the same-day interviewing event at the Career Fair to selected students.
