Music at Noon

Music At Noon: Piano Trio/Piano Quintet from SUNY Albany

The Capital Trio from the University at Albany will be joined by Violet Walther, violin, and David Walther, viola, for a program of chamber music. The concert will begin with a new work by Clark University professor and composer Matt Malsky (b. 1961) titled The Archipelago of Regrets and finish with one of the great works in the chamber music literature, Piano Quintet, Op. 81 by Antonin Dvorák (1841-1904).
The Capital Trio (Duncan Cumming, piano, Hilary Walther, violin, and Sölen Dikener cello) is the ensemble-in-residence at the University at Albany in New York. They have had successful tours of the southern United States, New York, and New England; in 2011 they will make their first European tour. In addition to giving lectures and master classes and coaching chamber music at the University at Albany, the trio has been invited for short-term residencies in New York and Clark University in Massachusetts.
Duncan J. Cumming is on the faculty of the University at Albany, has performed concertos, recitals, and chamber music concerts in cities across the United States and Europe. The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Merkin Hall and Carnegie Recital Hall, and the Wallenstein Palace in Prague are among the concert halls in which he has appeared. In 2011 a CD of solo piano music will be released on Centaur Records.
