Film Music Composer and Two-Time Emmy Winner Larry Groupé
Emmy award winning TV and film composer Larry Groupé will speak at Northeastern about his work. He will show a variety of clips from his film scores, and explain the current process of working with directors, producers, and the studio. He will cover the technical and digital aspects of the craft, as well as the current business climate, conditions and ancillary careers in the field. Composers, musicians, filmmakers and the public are all welcome.
Mr. Groupé is a four-time Emmy Award nominee, winning Emmys for best documentary score Jonas Salk, and Residue a short subject film about the US early involvement in Cambodia. He has also composed for numerous Academy Award winning and nominated films. Most notably, he wrote the score for The Contender starring Joan Allen, Gary Oldman and Jeff Bridges, a highly regarded political drama written and directed by Rod Lurie, which received multiple Academy Award nominations.
Other recent projects include the score for Straw Dogs, directed by Rod Lurie and starring James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgård. Just prior to this was Nothing but the Truth starring Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon and Alan Alda, Resurrecting the Champ starring Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett. All collaborations with writer-director Rod Lurie.
