Traditional Arts and Culture in Modern Balinese Society
Come study the performing arts in a modern context in Bali, Indonesia, one of the most beautiful and culturally exciting locales in Southeast Asia. Learn about traditional music, dance, and theater traditions, and how they are integrated into modern Balinese religion (Hinduism) and daily life. Based in Ubud, Bali, we will work with some of the island’s premier artists and instructors, and students will learn to perform their choice of music or theatrical dance. The program will end in the midst of Bali’s annual Festival of the Arts in Denpasar, a world-famous exposition and competition among the island’s most talented performers.
