In an effort to educate women about gun trafficking and reduce gun violence, Citizens for Safety, a Jamaica Plain non-profit organization formed LIPSTICK, Ladies Involved in Putting a Stop to Inner-City Killings.  In an article in the Jamaica Plain edition of Your Town, student reporter Lauren Spinella explains that often times, women are pressured into buying guns that others are not eligible to buy.

In the article, Spinella interviews Nancy Robinson, executive director of Citizens for Safety who believes that women are “easy prey for gun traffickers.”  According to Robinson, Citizens for Safety offers “workshops to inform women about the consequences of gun trafficking, including the possibility of jail time.”

Spinella was a student in Lisa Chedekel’s “Reporting for Your Town” class, Spring 2012.
