Why wasn’t the Holocaust front-page news in the New York Times?

Leff and Harrold

Would it have mattered if the New York Times gave consistent front-page news coverage of the Holocaust?  Professor Laurel Leff thinks that it might have made a difference.  Leff, author of “Buried by the Times,” was joined by film maker Emily Harrold, creator of the film “Reporting on the Times,” to share their thoughts and research on why the New York Times and so many other news outlets gave minimal coverage to the tragic plight of the Jewish population in Eastern Europe in the 1930s and 40s on Joy Behar’s “Say Anything!” talk show on “Current TV” network.  The interview aired on May 20.

“Reporting on the Times” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Harrold’s film will be shown at Northeastern University in November.
