The Curtis Lemar Haigh Scholarship
Curtis Lemar Haigh was a student within the Department of Communication Studies. He was a courageous individual, despite physical handicaps that might have discouraged him. Always a persevering student, cheerful, dedicated to his studies. He stayed committed to his favorite extracurricular pursuit, NU radio station WRBB. Curtis was a friend, teacher, and role model to all who knew him. Although he passed away in 1985, Curtis’s spirit and memory live on through the impression he left upon our department and in perpetuity though this scholarship in his name.
In Curtis’s memory, the Haigh family has established the “Curtis Lemar Haigh Scholarship Fund” to award a $1,000.00 scholarship to a current junior majoring in Communication Studies. Past recipients have been students who have exemplified Curtis’s total commitment to Northeastern University, both in the classroom and outside, and who have responded in a particularly exemplary way to the challenges of higher education.
