New York Theatre Workshop commissioned the play “Flower Child” in the late 1990s. Written during boom economic times, it questioned the collapse of the “American dream.” the legacy of the 1960s, and the broken bonds of a multiracial family. In 2012, Angela rediscovered “Flower Child” and attempts in this film to reconstruct the late play and the sources of its inspiration. In spite of her efforts to reconstruct the play, she is drawn into an examination of herself.
