The Northeastern art student is offered a flexible program in the College of Arts, Media and Design from areas in studio art, music, theater, architecture and communications. With a combination of drawing, painting, art history, as well as a plethora of other art and design electives, students mold their own art program. In addition, along with Northeastern’s humanities, language, sciences, social studies, the art student is fully immersed into a well-rounded liberal arts education to be applied and paired with other academic fields. Students have the chance to study abroad in Ireland for the entire summer to earn academic credits toward their art requirements with 24/7 access to their own studio. Students can also enroll in studio art electives at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Co-op opportunities span from art galleries or the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to independent studios and hospital art therapy teams.

Today it is evident that the knowledge and skills to create and innovate through the arts is extremely valuable to many organizations in all fields of interest. Career outlooks for the Northeastern art student include graduate school, gallery management, museum curating, and creative leadership in design and medical organizations (art therapy), just to name a few.
