The university has introduced a new academic initiative available to all students-the half major.
The half major allows students to pair two disciplines together and allows the student to customize his or her educational paths. For some students, this broader approach to an undergraduate degree is a more appealing option that provided in-depth study of more than one field.
The School of Architecture now offers two half majors: Architecture and Urban Landscape. Both these half-majors expose students to the studio environment through design studios as well as to architectural history while allowing them to broaden their scope of study to include another field that might include subjects such as in policy, earth and environmental sciences, engineering, environmental art, and other creative fields.
It should be noted that the half major is not a path to professional licensure but rather an opportunity for student who are seeking to define and craft his or her own course of study.
