The School of Architecture is pleased to announce that Gary Haney of SOM will be joining our faculty this fall as Professor of Practice. Mr. Haney will be teaching the Graduate Research Studio on Tall Buildings and working with our M.Arch students in developing research and thesis projects related to this topic.
Mr. Haney has over 29 years of experience at SOM and has provided award-winning designs for a broad range of projects all over the world. His design approach incorporates extensive materials research, environmental simulations and computational scripting which has enabled him design buildings a great scale and complexity such as the 412-meter tall Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait City. It is this expertise that he brings to the graduate studio this fall.
Mr. Haney has been an architecture critic on juries at Columbia University, Pratt Institute and Miami University as well has served on the advisory board at Pratt. He has lead design studios at MIT, Miami University and Ball State University. His work has been covered extensively in the international press and the Brooklyn Museum and the National Building Museum have been among the locations in which he has exhibited his work. He holds a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Miami University of Ohio.
