David Nathan

A 1992 graduate of Communication Studies and now the Senior Vice President of Radio/Video Promotion at Republic Records (Universal Music), David Nathan came to campus in April. He engaged in an open dialogue with Northeastern students in classroom visits and he filled the house at an evening “Meet and Greet.” David has been instrumental in launching numerous radio and video campaigns and expanding the artists’ collective sphere of influence in his career. His earned experience gave students insight into the music industry world and inspired them to start getting involved in every way possible.
James Gabbe

A 1966 graduate, James Gabbe débuted his new and unprecedented documentary film, Journey with the Giant, with the Northeastern community in March. The film focused on critical questions about China that have become central to U.S. political discourse and have profound implications for the world. After the event, James held a Q & A session where many interested students; faculty and community members shared their perspective about China, its politics, and the field of Journalism. Rick Callahan

A 2001 graduate of Communication Studies, Rick Callahan came to campus in February. Rick founded Copious Management, an agency based in Los Angeles that represents represents some of the most renowned photographers in the industry today, specializing in entertainment, advertising, editorial and music assignments. Rick visited Art + Design students and faculty members and later held a lunch time presentation. Rick’s enthusiasm, and invaluable industry perspective and expertise allowed our students to imagine their future and encourage them to be savvy and entrepreneurial. Steve Cody

A 1977 graduate from the School of Journalism, Steve Cody visited Northeastern in January and met with Communication Studies students and the college’s Creative Leaders and Dean’s Distinguished Scholars to serve as coach, guide and mentor. Steve is co-founder and managing partner of Peppercom, named 2012 Midsize Agency of the Year by PR Week. Steve is a renowned leader, visionary, and strategist in the Public Relations and communication world. He also learned to do standup comedy in order to enhance his public speaking skills and be a more effective interpersonal communicator. Steve led a very interactive conversation with students, full of advice and anecdotes to help them build successful careers in communications.
