Physical Therapy

Welcome

Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences

ALUMNI WELCOME

The department has gone through tremendous changes in the past 5 years.  We began offering a Certificate of Advanced Study in Orthopedic Physical Therapy for licensed PTs along with our transitional DPT. We also launched our new master degree in Occupational Ergonomics and Worker Wellness, a unique program.  This spring will be our first application deadline due March 15, 2015. Through dynamic growth in research funding [faculty with over 6 million in funding] and nine new research labs, we are expanding the scientific basis in movement and rehabilitation sciences. In June 2013, our Doctor of Physical Therapy Program was successfully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education for another 10 years.

To reflect our broad approach, new academic offerings and to honor our roots in Bouvé, we formally changed our department name to the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences in fall of 2013.

We show our accomplishments and yours with our biannual department newsletter, launched in 2010.  It is my sincere hope that you will stay connected with us and the university. Check back on this site regularly for information on lectures, student events, colloquia, and our online newsletter.  We would love to hear from you! We have much to celebrate─ outstanding students, accomplished alumni, world class faculty, internationally recognized researchers, and a top-notch educational experience, which includes the only PT cooperative education ("co-op") program in the country.  Simply email your alumni news to the school's mailbox at physicaltherapy@neu.edu.

We look forward to celebrating our centennial anniversary on November 7, 2015 and hope you will join us.

Thank you for visiting our website, and please consider making a gift today to help us continue our growth and support our students. You are always welcome to come back to visit!
