There are roughly 110 -120 applicants for approximately 20 seats.
Are the GRE’s required?
No, at this time Northeastern University does not require the GRE as part of the application process to the PB-DPT. However, if you have taken this exam and believe your scores will be an asset to your application please submit them and they will be reviewed.
Do required courses need to be completed by the time of application submission or by the time of admission?
You may have courses in progress at the time of application; however, all prerequisites must be satisfactorily completed in order to matriculate. Should you be accepted to the program it would be conditional upon this requirement. What are the core prerequisites for application to the PB-DPT program?

Is Exercise Physiology a requirement for the program?
Yes. There is no substitute for the prerequisite requirement in Exercise
Physiology. You may take such a course at any accredited college or
university. Such courses are often offered from departments of exercise
science or physiology you may also want to investigate the US Sports
Academy; they do have an on-line course in Exercise Physiology. Here

If I have not taken Developmental Psychology but have other extensive course work in Psychology would this fulfill the prerequisite?
The development psychology requirement is intended to include the understanding of the psychological development of individuals across
the life span; therefore if you have courses in child, adolescent, and
adult psychology through old age that should meet the requirement.
At what intervals are students be accepted to the program; can students transfer?
Students can enter the program as freshmen into our 6-year DPT program
or as a graduate student with an undergraduate degree in any major with
the appropriate prerequisite courses. Both programs start

In filling out the application where do I enter my volunteer observation hours?
Observational hours are not necessarily required of the application. Should you wish to include them, attach them to your personal statement if it does not fit into the body of your statement.
Do I need to attach a copy of my resume to the application?
Yes, an up to date resume is part of the application process and should be submitted with the application
Is a second semester of psychology required to apply?
Two semesters of Psychology are required; one should be a life span developmental psychology course and thus take into consideration the typical psychological development of individuals from birth through old age.
What are the requirements for Anatomy and Physiology?
The A&P requirement requires two semesters of course work each with a lab. An on line course would not typically meet this prerequisite requirement.
Do you have rolling applications?
Applications are accepted year round. The deadline is March 1st and all students are notified after that date. The first round of acceptance letters are generally sent by sent by April 30th. There is an "active wait list" from which applicants are
notified as spaces open should an accepted student decline a seat in the class.
Do you require a minimum GPA to apply to your program?
Yes the minimal QPA is a 3.0 with all prerequisites completed with a “C” grade or higher.
Does this program only start in the fall?
The PB-DPT program begins during the Fall semester of each year.
Do you allow courses to be taken online?

I have a Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy and am a licensed physical therapist, am I eligible for your entry-level PB-DPT program?
No. Individuals who are Physical Therapist are candidates for the “Transitional DPT” program which is explicitly designed for those who already have a degree in Physical Therapy. How long does the PB-DPT curriculum take to complete?
The program takes 3.5 years of full-time study. There are 7 semesters of didactic course work; 3 months of co-operative education and 3 clinical education experiences [of 8, 10 and 12 weeks duration]

There are no tuition fees when students are on co-op assignment.
Is there a part time DPT program available at Northeastern?
The only part time program offered at NU is through the School of Professional and Continuing Studies: a transitional DPT for individual who are PTs but do not have a DPT. Both the Direct Entry, Post Baccalaureate [PB-DPT] for graduate students & the Freshman Direct Entry program for undergraduate students are full-time day school programs.
Are these cohort programs or can the students take classes as they fit into their schedule?
These are "cohort programs" Students move forward throughout the curriculum as one graduating class.
Can Post Baccalaureate DPT Program Students do a concentration in Early Intervention?
Yes, The EI track is an option within the curriculum; and you may
pursue EI specialization by integrating its curriculum into a graduate degree
program such as physical therapy. The final two courses of the EI core
requirements are hybrid course , i.e. on line/on campus and taken while the student is on the final clinical education assignment, therefore
therefore the final clinical will need to be in the greater Boston area.

Does this program accommodate full-time job holders?
This is a full time day program; all classes are offered between
8:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
