Overview
The Health Science major is a pre-professional program designed to provide students with the appropriate background and preparation for entry into graduate and professional programs including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, public health, physician assistant, and social work. The major is also designed for students who are seeking a general preparation for positions in health promotion, health administration, and community-based public health.

Curriculum
Our integrated curriculum model builds upon a foundation of the social sciences, natural sciences, and the liberal arts. Courses in the Health Science major will introduce you to the U.S. healthcare system and provide you with the opportunity to develop an understanding of health policy and administration, health research, quality-of-care improvement, and evidence-based health care.

All Health Science students must complete a curriculum with a public health emphasis in the context of a liberal arts based program of study that includes a significant number of courses that enable you to pursue complementary interests or undertake a formal minor. In your senior year you will participate in a capstone project intended to provide you with a structured opportunity to broaden, deepen, and integrate the knowledge and skills acquired in prior courses and internships.

Students interested in graduate school in medicine, dentistry, podiatry, and veterinary medicine may opt to follow a Pre-Medical focus, including courses required for medical school. Please visit the Pre-Medical website for course requirements.

Experiential Learning
All Health Science students have the option to complete the program with or without a Co-op experience.
