Dean’s Greeting

We’ve all heard the saying “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” Let me start by saying that the last few months have seen some changes in the School of Pharmacy, particularly in our leadership. Jack Reynolds has been asked to serve as Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education for the 2014-15 academic year. Northeastern’s administrators certainly recognized Jack’s leadership in the School of Pharmacy and his ability to work effectively with colleagues across the university when they asked him to take on this important role. I have been asked to serve as Acting Dean of the School of Pharmacy for the year, while John Devlin has stepped up to serve as Acting Chair of the Department of Pharmacy and Health Systems Sciences (formerly Pharmacy Practice).

While some of us are serving in new roles, there is so much about the School of Pharmacy that has stayed the same. As far as the School’s leaders are concerned, the fact that all three of us have remained at the university means that we continue to consult with each other on a regular basis, which is helpful while we each learn new roles while retaining aspects of our previous roles. And our commitment to excellence in education, research, innovation and practice certainly hasn’t changed. The stories in this issue highlight the continued excellence and achievements of our faculty, staff and students.

One change that I would invite you to check out is our newly redesigned School of Pharmacy website (www.northeastern.edu/bouve/pharmacy). Our new website is designed with users in mind, making it easier to find information they are looking for, while making it easier for the School to keep the site up-to-date.

As always, we want to hear from you and invite you to come visit us at the School of Pharmacy. Please reach out to us at (schoolofpharmacy@neu.edu). And for those of you who will be attending the ASHP Midyear Meeting in Anaheim, please join us for our annual School of Pharmacy reception on Monday, December 8th at 5:30 pm at the Hilton Anaheim (California Ballroom A).
