Research interests: Diversity, Mental Health, Mild Head Injury; Dr. Mateo's research program focuses on care of patients who have sustained mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). Her studies have examined the cognitive, emotional and physical problems resulting from MTBI, particularly a deficit in prospective memory, the ability to recall and act upon time-dependent information to achieve one’s goals. She is currently examining the effectiveness of accomplishing randomly assigned time-dependent tasks when MTBI subjects use an electronic memory aid. She is a co-author of the award-winning research text, Using and Conducting Nursing Research in the Clinical Setting.
