Dear Bouvé Community,
Through generous funding support from the DentaQuest Foundation, a national model for interprofessional education and collaborative practice to improve oral health will be established at Northeastern University Bouvé College of Health Sciences. The DentaQuest Foundation is committed to optimal oral health for all Americans through its support of prevention and access to affordable care, and through its partnerships with funders, policymakers and community leaders.
Innovations in Interprofessional Oral Health Care: Technology, Instruction, Practice, and Service (TIPS) launched at a special event on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at The Cabral Center, John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, Northeastern University, Boston, MA. The keynote speaker was John Auerbach, Distinguished Professor of Practice and Director of the Institute on Urban Health Research at Northeastern University.
Collaborative leaders representing medicine, dentistry, public health, nursing, pharmacy, allied health professions, and higher education were invited to advance the dialogue on interprofessional education and collaborative practice for optimal oral health. Participation at this event helped us make visible the “silent epidemic” of oral diseases, oral health disparities and inequities; and advance our mission to improve oral health particularly for our most vulnerable and underserved populations.
