The Bouvé College of Health Sciences offers five undergraduate programs and over 34 graduate programs within our three schools – health professions, nursing, and pharmacy, with an interdisciplinary emphasis that reflects today’s team approach to health care.
The mission of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences is to be a center of excellence in health professional education, research, and service. The structure of the college fosters cross-disciplinary interaction among faculty and students, encourages innovation in the education of both entry level and advanced practice health professionals, and recognizes the autonomy of each profession.
The College builds partnerships with health care delivery systems and the community in order to assure that Bouvé students and faculty have access to practice sites that prepare our graduates to meet the health care needs of our urban neighbors and society.
To inspire/create the next generation of interprofessional healthcare leaders for the wellbeing of our global community.
We seek to embrace the diversity inherent in humanity and capitalize on our opportunity to educate students, and generate and disseminate new knowledge for the betterment of health and healthcare for people everywhere.
Dear Bouvé Community:
As Dean of Bouvé, I am reminded daily of the remarkable energy and discovery that takes place every day in our classrooms, laboratories, and even unexpected encounters! Our College is thriving: as we welcome our new faculty members, over 330 undergraduate students, and 625 graduate students, this promises to be a year of tremendous potential, growth and fulfillment.
Our students are exceptionally bright, highly motivated, and eager to be a part of our mission, and I know our alumni are watching to ensure their legacy is honored and enriched every year. Bouvé’s world-class faculty is leading national conversations in science, practice, and policy that will shape healthcare into the future. I’m inspired by their tireless energy and effort to make Bouvé and Northeastern a place where students are supported, challenged, and embraced as future colleagues and where faculty can succeed and have high impact. Under President Joseph Aoun’s visionary leadership, Bouvé is making major strides in advancing health nationally and globally.
At Bouvé, the themes that knit our interprofessional College together in a very special way include drug discovery, delivery and diagnostics, urban population health, self-care/self-management, and healthy aging. The interprofessional education collaborative, sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Dental Education Association, the Association of Medical Colleges and the Association of Schools of Public Health, has made it clear that interprofessional practice is the key to safe, high-quality, and accessible patient-centered care. I am pleased to announce our new Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite was dedicated on September 19, 2013 and we hope you will take the opportunity to come visit and share the experience of this exceptional new approach to teaching our students.
I look forward to greeting you on campus. Please let me know if are in Boston so that I can personally welcome you to Bouvé!
Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN | Dean and Professor, Bouvé College of Health Sciences
