Biotechnology at Northeastern University
Biotechnology and pharmaceutical science is the nucleus of a rapidly growing multibillion dollar industry in the US and throughout the world. Scientists and engineers must navigate the dynamics of a heavily regulated but highly innovative industry. Graduate programs in biotechnology, offered by Northeastern University, provide students the opportunity to develiop the knowledge base and laboratory sklls needed to be successful in this expanding and evolving industry. Students choose a specialization focused on molecular biotechnology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, process development, regulatory science, or bioinformatics. They experience hands-on application and laboratory based coursework in addition to classroom instruction providing the foundation of the interdisciplinary degree. Students also gain valuable fieldwork experience through Northeastern University’s co-op program. Co-op provides real-world learning in industry, government, world famous teaching hospitals and academic research labs in the immediate Boston area as well as worldwide. As we continue to add faculty in biotechnology research and education, and as we produce highly skilled workers for the industry, our academic programs in biotechnology will play an important role in moving us toward our goal of becoming one of the nation's top universities. |
