Biotechnology and pharmaceutical science is the nucleus of a rapidly growing multibillion dollar industry in the US and throughout the world. Scientists and engineers must navigate the dynamics of a heavily regulated but highly innovative industry. Students choose a specialization focused on molecular biotechnology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, process development, regulatory science, or bioinformatics. They experience hands-on application and laboratory based coursework in addition to classroom instruction providing the foundation of the interdisciplinary degree. Students also gain valuable fieldwork experience through Northeastern University’s co-op program. Co-op provides real-world learning in industry, government, world famous teaching hospitals and academic research labs in the immediate Boston area as well as worldwide.
