Organization's Mission and Goals:
City Year's mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership, and social entrepreneurship. City Year's youth service corps annually engages more than 1,000 young adults, ages 17-24, from diverse racial, cultural and economic backgrounds for a demanding year of full-time community service, leadership development, and civic engagement. During their "City Year" corps members participate in transformative community service, break down social barriers, and inspire citizens to civic action. Many of our alumni continue to work as leaders for the common good. Over the past 15 years, more that 7,800 City Year corps members have served more than 11 million hours, impacting more that 840,000 children across the United States.

City Year Headquarters hires up to seven co-op students each cycle. Some students are hired to work as a Corps Member and directly serve the youth of Boston. The others are hired through Headquarters to support all offices and other City Year sites (there are 18 sites other than Boston). The co-ops in Headquarters work with everything from human resources to alumni relations. They are a fabulous company to work for.
