Programs & Education Weekly Updates from the Senior Vice President April 3, 2009 Celebrating the Voices of Northeastern That’s a wrap! Northeastern’s One Campaign officially ended on Wednesday after reaching an extraordinary 2,500 alumni, parents, and friends in just one month. My colleagues and I benefited from hearing what alumni value most about Northeastern and personal thoughts about the direction in which we’re headed. A sentiment repeated again and again is how deeply people value our university’s great traditions. Alumni are energized by our momentum in research, education, and service, yet still share an overwhelming amount of pride about Northeastern’s entrepreneurial roots. We’ve thought a great deal about how to capture Northeastern’s history and celebrate all that brings us to today. Then it became clear: the history of any institution is best celebrated through the voices of people who have shaped it. In Northeastern’s case, our alumni. A new oral history initiative, The Voices of Northeastern, will preserve university stories from alumni, professors, and friends so future generations of Huskies can benefit from their perspectives. During the One Campaign many people credited Northeastern’s innovative model of education, anchored by co-op, for their personal and professional success. Yet just as Northeastern influenced you, your time at Northeastern has shaped our university and inspired others. That is the beauty of the Northeastern family.
