Under sun-drenched skies amid a sea of Husky spirit, more than 3,500 Northeastern alumni and friends took in the 4th annual NU Family Day at Fenway on Saturday, June 13.
Attendees were treated to a wide range of activities for the young and young at heart. From Speed Pitch and Home Run Derby to face painting, live music, and entertainment performances by local youths, there was something for everyone.
“This is an outstanding opportunity to get members of Husky Nation together to celebrate our common bond,” said Jack Moynihan, MPA’93, Vice President of Alumni Relations and The Northeastern Fund. “The Red Sox and Northeastern have a great relationship, and being able to have events like this at Fenway – where our alumni can see a side of the park many never see – strengthens that connection.”
Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster and Northeastern’s Paws posed for countless photos and were greeted with hugs and high-fives throughout the day. Many folks posed with the 2004 and 2007 World Series trophies and our new eco-friendly Smart car, Miles, was a popular stop as well.
With Tour Guide Trivia, fans got a chance to see signature Fenway attractions like the Pesky Pole, the Right Field Roof Deck, the Green Monster Seats, and the “Red Seat” while understanding their historical significance. You could also test your knowledge – and your eyesight – with the Photo Scavenger Hunt, which gave attendees a chance to win a Huskies T-shirt if they could correctly identify items around the park.
“You really couldn’t have asked for a better day,” Moynihan said. “The weather was perfect and it was great to spend some time at the ballpark with so many fellow Huskies.”
The Office of Alumni Relations would like to thank Liberty Mutual for their sponsorship of both NU Family Day at Fenway and Miles.
