Register Now for Alumni/ae Weekend: May 12-13, 2006

You can now register online for NUSL's Alumni/ae Weekend. Join us for a full array of activities, including a Friday night reception for all graduates at Vinalia Restaurant and Lounge and Saturday night's reunion class dinner (for reunion class years and guests. 1951, 1956, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001).

The weekend also features a stimulating panel on constitutional law featuring Robert Crabtree '76, Leslie Winner '76 and the Honorable Victoria Roberts '76.

Also, we are offering a Fenway Park tour on Saturday (free to first 50 persons who register) and a Duck Tour. Register now!

James Hackney Appointed Associate Dean

Professor James R. Hackney, Jr. will assume the position of associate dean for academic affairs as of July 1. This is a short-term position that rotates among the senior faculty.

Professor Hackney teaches in the areas of torts, corporate finance, corporations, critical race theory, and law and economics.

Stepping down from the associate dean position is Professor Dick Daynard, who served for two years.




Professor Peter Enrich Argues Supreme Court Case

On March 1, 2006, Professor Peter Enrich argued the Cuno case before the Supreme Court, the culmination of 10 years of preparation. The Boston Globe featured an in-depth Business section write-up on March 2, and also mentioned the 50 students who have assisted Peter with his research and case preparation.




Admissions Open House on April 8: Join us to Recruit the Class of 2009!

The law school will host the Admitted Student Open House on April 8. This is a critical opportunity for admitted applicants to meet our graduates.

Each year, attendees tell us that interacting with alumni/ae is one of the highlights of this event, so please join us for the community reception on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m at Bravo Restaurant at the Museum of Fine Arts (465 Huntington Avenue).

Alumni/ae of Color Panel
  On Tuesday, March 21, 12 to 1:30 p.m. the Alumni/ae Association is sponsoring an alumni/ae of color panel for NUSL students. This year, the panel includes Darin Smith ’94, Amita Vasudeva ’98, Romeo Camba ’94, and Quan Le ’98.

The panel will take place in the common lounge, and graduates are welcome to attend.

Annual Valerie Gordon Human Rights Lecture
  On Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 5:30 p.m., in Room 97, NUSL will host professor/author Carol Anderson, author of Eyes Off the Prize: The United Nations and the African-American Struggle for Human Rights, 1944-1955.

Professor Anderson's talk is titled, “‘Abandoned a Long Time Ago:’ African Americans, Human Rights and the Struggle for Real Equality.” A reception will follow in the common lounge.

This event is cosponsored by the NUSL's Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy. Contact Professor Hope Lewis for more information.
