Terahertz Workshop
Five strategic study workshops have been held to date. The first workshop took place in Year 1, on October 30, 2008. ALERT researcher Xi-Cheng Zhang of RPI led a Terahertz Imaging and Sensing workshop which was attended by 247 academics, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as industrial and national lab representatives.
An analysis of the fundamental science gaps and potential research areas related to Terahertz Imaging and Sensing has been produced as a product of this first workshop. The full report is available as a hard copy and on CD. Copies of this report can be requested by contacting Mariah Nobrega at 617-373-3031 or via email mnobrega@coe.neu.edu.
Following the Terahertz Imaging and Sensing workshop, three strategic study workshops in the Algorithm Development for Security Applications (ADSA) series have been held. ADSA01 (April 2009) and ADSA02 (October 2009) were led by Carl Crawford, an expert in security imaging and consultant for ALERT. ADSA03 (April 2010) was led by Professor Carey Rappaport, Deputy Director of ALERT at Northeastern, with the help of Dr. Crawford. The audience for the ADSA workshops is comprised of government, academic, industry and national lab participants.
