Looking for support, feedback, and structure for your writing projects? Interested in advancing articles, book chapters, and grant proposals to publication and submission stages? The ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development and the Northeastern Writing Center are pleased to announce faculty writing groups for the fall 2017 semester.
There are three ways you can join the writing groups:
1. Join an existing group that has a facilitator from the Writing Center.
Cecelia Musselman Wednesdays, 9:30-11 (biweekly) – STEM disciplines
Sebastian Stockman Wednesdays, 11:45-1:15 (weekly)
Susan Soroka Thursdays, 10-12 (biweekly)
Sarah Finn/Elly Jackson Thursdays, 1-3 (weekly)
2. Get a group of 3-8 faculty members who you want to write with and we’ll provide a writing space, snacks, and a copy of the book Paul Silvia’s How to Write a Lot.
3. Sign up for a virtual group for remote faculty members.
Sign up for any option HERE before September 13! Space in each group is limited, so we encourage early registration.
Each group decides if they want to use the time to write and share goals or if they want to share their writing in a workshop setting and receive feedback from the group members. Some groups do a combination of these two formats. All writing groups are provided a writing space, snacks, and drinks. Each person receives a copy of Paul Silvia’s How to Write a Lot and an invitation to the kick-off luncheon on Wednesday, September 27 from 11:30-1:00 in Curry 346 where you will meet your group, articulate some goals for the semester, and learn some tips for protecting your writing time and staying on track.
We invite full-time faculty of all ranks (tenure-track/tenured/non-tenure track) to participate in a Writing Group. We also encourage applications from groups of faculty from particular disciplines or units.
