As part of a comprehensive Northeastern University support network, the ISSI assists international students with immigration compliance from admissions to graduation. The ISSI also offers cultural and educational programs and services designed to support international students and scholars transition to life in Boston, and to enrich their university experience.

The staff of the ISSI assists international students and scholars with immigration-related issues, including SEVIS compliance and related federal regulations, ensuring they maintain lawful student status. ISSI issues visa eligibility documents (forms I-20 and DS-2019), serves as a liaison for sponsored international students, and coordinates seminars on topics that range from co-op/employment to intercultural issues.

The ISSI conducts several weeks of orientation programming, provides student leadership opportunities with an intercultural focus, and offers an array of services related to the advancement of international educational exchange. Its annual two-month cultural festival, “ISSI Carnevale,” aims to promote heightened understanding of nations and cultures for all university students.
