Transfer Students
Required Materials
Please ensure that your name, date of birth, admissions ID and U.S. Social Security number (if applicable) are on every item of your application package.
Prospective transfer students should submit:
- Completed Transfer Common Application and required NU Supplement (including the College Official's report)
- Application fee: $65 for online submission or $75 for paper submission.
- Official transcripts for all college courses at all colleges and universities attended. There is no exception to this requirement. All academic credit will be evaluated, regardless of the grade received.
- Official high school transcript or GED score report and SAT/ACT scores (only if the applicant has completed fewer than 24 semester hours of college-level academic work). If an applicant has been out of high school for more than five years, these requirements are waived.
- Two recommendation letters from academic advisors, professors, or employers, on official letterhead and submitted in sealed envelopes.
- Mid-term grades for the current term can be substituted for the high school transcript and SAT requirement, if the applicant has completed at least one full semester of academic work. Download the mid-term grade report (PDF).
- Portfolio (recommended for art and graphic design majors and required for music technology applicants).
- Coursework in progress should be submitted in the form of an official course registration list from your current college/university.
- Transfer applicants who have earned credits at an international university must have their transcripts translated into English. Also, please provide course descriptions or syllabi.
International transfer students must also submit:
- Students whose native language is not English are required to submit proof of English language proficiency: TOEFL -passing score of 213 on the computer-based test, 550 on the paper based test, 79-80 on the Internet -based test, and a passing score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) . This requirement is waived if your SAT critical reading score /ACT equivalent is at least 500. It is your responsibility to ensure that your test scores are either submitted directly to Northeastern by the testing service or are included on your official high school transcript.
- International applicants are required to submit a Declaration of Finances Form (PDF) indicating availability of funds equal to the amount required to attend Northeastern and pay for living expenses for a full year.
- If you are an International applicant currently studying in the United States and you intend to enroll at Northeastern, you will need to complete the Transfer Notification for F-1 and J-1 Visa Holders Form (PDF).
