Experiential Learning
The world's most powerful learning experience
Over the past century, Northeastern has perfected the integration of study and practice, creating an unparalleled way to learn. Our experiential model of education will stretch your mind and prepare you to make an impact on the world-before you graduate.
Engagement in real-world experience comes in the form of research, community engagement, and our signature co-op program - in the US and around the globe for intensive periods.
Experiential learning at Northeastern is an avenue to intellectual and personal growth: adding depth to classroom studies, providing exposure to career paths and opportunities, and inspiring students to delve deeper, sharpen their focus, and pursue greater academic challenges.
Making Experiential Learning Work For You
When it comes to a college education, Northeastern understands that one size does not fit all. That's why we offer the flexibility to pursue our experiential learning opportunities in a way that fits your education goals. Whether you pursue a four-year or five-year option, you'll be able to tailor your academic plan. And, no matter what path you take, your experiences will seamlessly weave together with rigorous academics, your global perspectives will expand, and you'll graduate with a distinctive edge that puts you ahead of your peers in your field.
Tuition and other costs depend on your pattern of attendance. Whether you choose four of five years for your undergraduate degree, you will only pay tuition for in-class terms. You may elect up to 18 months of experience, which are considered non-tuition terms. If you choose to live on campus during these periods you will be responsible for room and board charges.
