Reflecting the city of Boston and the broader world beyond, Northeastern University is a rich blend of cultures, languages, religions, and traditions. The University supports and celebrates these characteristics through the following centers and institutes:
African-American Institute

The John D. O'Bryant African-American Institute offers academic and cultural support for students of African descent and other interested students. The institute, founded in 1968, was later named in honor of John D. O'Bryant, the first African-American to be appointed a Northeastern University vice president. The institute serves as a major link between the University and the surrounding black community.

Asian American Center

The mission of the Asian American Center (AAC) at Northeastern University is to provide the entire campus with opportunities to engage in issues related to the varied experiences of Asian Americans. The Center offers programs and events that address the myriad of experiences, backgrounds, and career aspirations represented on campus. Its function is to create greater visibility of the Asian American community at Northeastern, advocate for the specific needs of Asian Americans, and to serve as a resource for everyone at the University in regards to their intellectual curiosity, identity development, and professional interests.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, & Transgender (GLBT) Community

Northeastern University has a responsibility to all members of its community to provide a safe, professional working and learning environment. The GLBT Advisory Group provides GLBT faculty and staff with a link to NU's president on issues that may affect the larger GLBT community at Northeastern.
Hillel

Northeastern University Hillel is the center for Jewish student life on campus. It exists to provide Jewish students with a opportunity to participate in cultural, educational, religious, and social activities with other Jews. Northeastern University Hillel is committed to a pluralistic view of Judaism which embraces all movements.

The International Student and Scholar Institute offers a vast array of programs and services to more than 2,700 international students, scholars, and faculty who represent approximately 130 nations. The institute also works to promote meaningful interaction and understanding among students of other countries and their U.S. peers, providing educational and cultural enrichment opportunities for all members of Northeastern and the community at large.
Latino/a Student Cultural Center

The Latino/a Student Cultural Center (LSCC) integrates the academic, cultural, and social endeavors of Northeastern's Latino/a students. Through community service, outreach, and programming, the center also links the university with its urban neighbors. The LSCC welcomes all Northeastern students.
