Policy and Procedure
PLEASE NOTE: This process needs to be followed if you are creating a new position or making changes to an existing vacant position. This process does not have to be followed if the position (*according to the aforementioned guidelines) is a replacement, and no changes are being made. Go directly to Position Creation, Approval and Posting.
PURPOSE: To identify steps needed to create or modify a position record in PeopleSoft. In order to create a job requisition, it is necessary to have a position number. This procedure must be followed prior to completing an online requisition form. If a position has been changed, and the Hiring Manager/Proxy does not complete an Add/Change form to notify the HR/PR Service Center to adjust the position record in PeopleSoft, then incorrect information will be posted on the NU job opportunities site.

DEFINITIONS:
New position - An additional position that does not currently have a Position Number assigned to it
Changed position - A re-evaluation by Compensation which results in a change in
PROCEDURE:
Faculty, Administrative Professional and Office Support, Technical, Trades and Crafts 1. Hiring Manager or Proxy will complete a Position Add/Change Form and then electronically submit the form to the HR/PR Service Center.
2. The HR/PR Service Center will process the information and set up or edit the Position record in PeopleSoft, and send the Hiring Manager or Proxy a notification message.
3. If it is a NEW position, the notification will include a Position number. The Position number is required in order for the Key Contact to create a Job Requisition in PeopleSoft. If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact your HRM Consultant at extension 2230.
