Procedure

Title: Voluntary Deductions and Reductions
Policy / Procedure No: PAY022
Purpose: The Payroll Office is responsible for ensuring that voluntary deductions are put into effect according to the employee's wishes and are in compliance with government regulations.
Who Performs: Payroll Office.
Documentation Needed Written authorization from the employee.
Contact Department Payroll Office, 225 Richards Hall, x2280.

Procedure:

1. Employee sends written authorization for the desired deduction or reduction (e.g., for the Credit Union, NU Charitable Funds Campaign, TIAA/Fidelity, and so on).

2. Payroll Office staff updates the online Master file and the employee's taxable salary and/or net pay is reduced accordingly.

3. Payroll Office staff disburses withheld amounts.
