Finance- Overview
The Finance Division's role at Northeastern University is clearly in line with the overall mission of
the institution to be a national research university that is student centered, practice-oriented and urban.
The major responsibility is to provide for management of the University's fiscal affairs which is divided into
the following functions:
To make certain that all parties are apprised of their departmental budgets and to monitor expenditures within the financial framework set in place by those budgets. This information is used to provide an opportunity to examine the composition and viability of Northeastern's resource base for each program and activity.
To ascertain that funds due to the University from all sources are solicited and collected. These sources include, but are not limited to, tuition, research grants, federal, and restricted sources.
Conduct independent protective and constructive audits for management to review effectiveness of controls, financial records, and operations.
Management of financial operations of Northeastern, including designing
systems, preparing and presenting financial reports, conducting financial analyses, providing appropriate controls and audits.
Management of cash to develop accurate cash projections by managing receipts and disbursements and to invest all available funds.
To create and monitor sound financial controls for the entire University community to work within.
Administration of the funds disbursement process for University constituencies through the Accounts Payable function
