Facilities - Overview

The primary functions of the Facilities Division include the planning, design and construction of new buildings, and the renovation and renewal of existing campus facilities. The Facilities Division provides 24-hour support services to students, faculty and staff in a timely manner through the use of a computerized work order system that monitors and prioritizes requests for maintenance and emergency repairs. It is the goal of the Facilities Division to be a service-oriented organization whose mission is to support a safe, healthy and attractive environment conducive to teaching, learning and working.

Facilities Administrative Operations
Administrative Operations encompasses all fiscal and administrative matters in the Division, including the development, analysis and control of operating and plant fund budgets so as to remain within approved spending guidelines and projections. Administrative Operations also includes staff development through goal setting and training so as to maintain high levels of performance in providing assistance to the Division and the University community.

Facilities Construction
The two departments are Capital Construction and Special Projects. These areas are responsible for the planning, design and construction of new buildings; the extension, renewal and replacement of the existing sixty-four academic, administrative, athletic, research and residential facilities, including suburban campuses. Its primary mission is to maintain the University's facilities and equipment in the best possible condition to provide students, faculty, and staff an environment conducive to learning, teaching, and working.

Facilities Customer Service
The Facilities Customer Service Center is the communications center responsible for gathering accurate information for work requests for repairs, special services and emergencies. The center is the primary command center for the Facilities Division and is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Our mission is to provide fast, efficient response to all work order requests.

Facilities Operations
Facilities Operations oversees energy management systems, utilities management, sustainability, safety and the trades. The trades include Auto Shop, Carpentry Shop, Electrical Shop, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Lock Shop, Mechanical, Painting, Plumbing and Sign Shop. The Operations Department administrates and directs the daily activities of all on-campus trades to ensure the effective maintenance, repair and ongoing operation of all building components; heating, air conditioning, and related items, as well as all equipment related to these systems throughout the campus.
