Boren Scholarships provide American undergraduate students with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation. In exchange, the recipient commits to seek work in the federal government.

Erin plans to use the Boren Scholarship to study Russian in Kazakhstan next year. She is a University Scholar who has already won two prestigious scholarships from the State Department to learn Russian, both involving intensive language study in Russia. Erin is currently on her first co-op at the Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security.
