2012-13
Julia Ebert, S’15, behavioral neuroscience
Upon arriving on campus as a National Merit Scholar, Julia channeled her talents and passion into championing the field of science
to others. In her first year, she joined Northeastern’s PRISM
(Proactive Recruitment in Introductory Science and Mathematics) program,
and has continued as a mentor ever since. She has also been a research
assistant in the Northeastern University Action Lab—both as a volunteer
and then as a co-op responsible for a study on human motor control. She
plans to pursue a PhD in neuroscience.
2011-12
Neel Shah, E’14, electrical and computer engineering
Neel, who emigrated from India to the United States in 2005, has channeled his intellectual curiosity and determination into the field of electrical and computer engineering—with impressive results. As a research assistant in the Northeastern University Computer Architecture lab, he is helping to develop state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms and using them to build innovative face-recognition and object-detection applications for security,
national defense, and immigration purposes. He is currently on co-op as a design engineer at Advanced Micro Devices, a multinational semiconductor company.
