NU Activities The Asian American Center is committed to increasing the number of Asian American students represented in leadership positions at Northeastern University. It is essential that leadership roles are fulfilled by students from diverse backgrounds to reflect the composition of the student body. To assist us in our effort, we have comprised a list of the different programs and activities offered at NU which you should consider being involved. LEAD 360 [web site] LEAD 360 builds on the idea that everyone has the capacity to lead. LEAD 360 believes that leadership is dimensional and is gained through every experience a person has. The research a student conducts, the co-op position a student holds, the cultures a student learns about while studying abroad, the service a student provides for the community, and the club sport in which a student is involved, have all added to one being a leader. In simple words, LEAD 360 believes in the philosophy that leadership is holistic. SGA [web site] SGA was founded in 1924 and continues to serve as the united voice of the student body. It is our duty to advocate for the interests of students and to assist students with any problems they may have, no matter how big or small. To become a senator on the Student Governing Association, you must prepare a BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT (maximum of 50 words) which includes any relevant experience, activities, and information that you find important. You must also prepare a MISSION STATEMENT about how you will represent students within your district and how you will contribute to the Northeastern community. Lastly, you must obtain 50 student signatures from your college. The application form needed can be found here. The independent student Newspaper of Northeastern community. Cauldron [web site] The student Yearbook of Northeastern University. Resident Assistant [web site] RAs work and interact with, on average between 40 and 60 residents. Therefore, they need to be aware of and sensitive to the needs, values, and lifestyles of many different people. This requires that RAs be open, supportive, and confident. RAs are supervised by professional staff who help with training, provide support, facilitate team building, and help develop RAs through one-on-one supervision. CUP (Council for University Programs) [web site] Council for University Programs is the premier student organization for on-campus activities. From Homecoming to Springfest and everything in between, CUP is behind some of the most memorable and exciting events put on by students for students. Campus Tours [web site] Volunteer to introduce Northeastern University to prospective students. For more information on how to get involved, call (617) 373-2211 |
